Tungsten carbide is widely used in cutting tools, wear-resistant components, and industrial tooling because of its excellent hardness and wear resistance. 40Cr steel, on the other hand, provides good strength and toughness, making the combination of these two materials suitable for applications that require both wear resistance and structural strength.
In this customer case, tungsten carbide was vacuum brazed to 40Cr steel to produce a clean and reliable finished assembly. Vacuum brazing provides a controlled, low-oxidation environment, helping reduce surface contamination and supporting consistent brazing quality. Precise control of heating rate, brazing temperature, holding time, vacuum level, and cooling conditions is important when joining dissimilar materials such as carbide and steel.
The finished product demonstrates the capability of Normantherm Vacuum Furnace for precision brazing of carbide-steel assemblies. Our vacuum furnace systems can be configured according to component dimensions, materials, brazing requirements, and production needs, providing controlled and repeatable processing for demanding industrial applications.
